Track Classes [from AS 2156.1-2001]
This advisory notice describes the Suggested Walks shown in the Visitors Guide
Class 1 describes the internal ring road
shown as 2 continuous parallel lines and not including the branch to the bridge
over the
Class 2 describes the Main Circuit
[Suggested Walk 1] and
Class 3 describes all other tracks including
Suggested Walks 2, 3, and 5.
Generally a modified surface,
sections may be hardened. Width variable and generally less than 1200mm [4ft].
Kept mostly clear of intrusions. May exceed 1 in 10 for short sections but
generally no steeper than 1 in 10. Steps may be common.
Users need no bushwalking
experience and a minimum level of specialized skills. Users may encounter
natural hazards such as steep slopes, unstable surfaces and minor water
crossings. You are responsible for your own safety. Storms may affect
navigation and safety.
Class 6 describes the possibilities that could be encountered over the balance of the Tasmanian Arboretum
As the standard relates to the least improved part of a track we make this comment. The grassed areas are of a lesser Track Class. No modification of the natural environment. May include steep sections of unmodified surfaces. Signage is not generally provided. Users may require previous experience in the outdoors and a high level of specialized skills. Users may need to be self reliant, particularly in regard to emergency first aid.
Storms and severe weather
may affect safety. Beware of falling branches.
